THE ONLY WAY TO GET HELP- ACCEPT YOUR TRUTH.
The scariest thing to say:
"I am addicted to porn, i need help."
"I am addicted to masturbation, i need help."
"I am addicted to sex, i need help."
We are afraid to acknowledge our struggles when ADMITTING is the first step to recovery.
We are afraid because we don't know how we will be percieved after we have uttered those words. We are afraid others won't love us and won't support us. So we choose to live the lie- make others think we are "O.k" and not battling porn, masturbation and sex.
Lk 18:9-14: "Some of the people were self-righteous and so confident in themselves that they looked down on everyone else, so Jesus told them this parable: "Two men went to church to pray: one was a Pharisee, known for obeying all the rules of the church, the other– a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up so people would see him, and began praying about how good he was: 'God, thank you so much. I am better than others and not like the lowly robbers, rapists, addicts– or even like this tax collector. I eat only the right foods and pay a pre-tax tithe.' "But the tax collector, avoiding the attention of others, found a quiet place, bowed his head low, and not even looking toward heaven, beat his breast in grief and begged, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' "I tell you the truth, it was this humble man– not the other– that went home with a heart set right with God. For anyone who promotes self will destroy themself, but whoever surrenders self to God in love will be fully healed and exalted."" The Remedy Bible
No one can make you face your truth- it is yours to face. You may choose the path of hypocrisy like that of the pharisee, in which you want "others" to think well of you. This approach is a poor coping mechanism. It prevents you from facing your own darkness. No one can force another to pursue recovery. When we insist on denying our need for help...we will get deatroyed eventually.
Make it Easy Movement believes God's grace is freely available to save us, but He CANNOT force us to heal if we are not co-operating.
